"I'm a Maryland native who moved to New York in 2007 to join a real estate finance firm where I worked for 6 years. When I decided to pursue a different interest, I took a job bartending in midtown Manhattan where I developed a keen interest in the wine list. In addition to tending bar, I also joined a small New York based company specializing in rare wines, primarily from Burgundy. On the advice of one of the partners in the company, I traveled to Burgundy to visit a number of small family-run domaines. From that day forward, I was hooked. Rather than import more French wine into NYC, I looked for what was missing: The Pacific Northwest! - wineries there were producing outstanding wines that seemed to be getting better and better. But most of these wines from Washington State and much of Oregon were not making it to the east coast. I wanted to change that.
So, one year later, Welkin Vines was born."
